We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer with expertise in cellular modem design, specifically in LTE and 5G technologies. This role will involve leading the design, development, and optimization of RF systems for cutting-edge cellular connectivity solutions, with a focus on the automotive sector. Key responsibilities:
- Design, development, and integration of RF systems for cellular modems, focusing on LTE/5G technologies and their application in automotive connectivity solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design RF architectures that meet or exceed performance and certification standards for wireless communications and automotive regulations.
- Optimize modem performance in challenging RF environments and ensure compliance with global certification requirements.
- RF testing, simulation, and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sensitivity, power consumption, and noise.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as 3GPP, ETSI, FCC, CE, and automotive-specific standards.
- Work closely with hardware and software teams to ensure proper integration of RF components in modem designs, optimizing for low power consumption and high reliability.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and technological advancements in RF, cellular networks, and automotive connectivity, driving innovation within the organization.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for RF design, testing, and certification.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in RF engineering, with a focus on cellular modem design and integration (LTE/5G).
- Proven experience in RF system architecture, simulation, and analysis tools (such as MATLAB, ADS, HFSS, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of 3GPP LTE/5G standards and automotive communication protocols.
- Familiarity with RF certification processes for cellular modems (e.g., FCC, CE, PTCRB, GCF, TÜV).
- Hands-on experience with RF testing and measurement equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers).
- Deep understanding of antenna design, impedance matching, and system-level performance optimization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in design, testing, and certification phases.
- Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in automotive RF design, especially in integrating wireless communication technologies into vehicles.
- Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks specific to the automotive industry.
- Knowledge of GNSS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technologies as part of broader RF system designs.
- Experience working with multimode modems and cross-network handovers.
